Every Industry Has Its Good Practitioners
November 12th, 2008Every Industry Has Its Good Practitioners
Every industry has its good practitioners and its bad. While we have many friends that are good, reputable brokers or agents, there are many other so-called professionals who are not. They are just hoping to score a paycheck for doing minimal work. The majority of real estate agents have little or no more knowledge of selling a home than you have. Some have little more brain power than a cabbage. Some outright lie to home buyers and sellers, trying to get that big payoff.
We have customers that complain about brokers’ behavior all the time. Of all the calls this office receives relating to brokers, by far the most frequently asked is how to get out of the contract, usually because the broker has conducted himself in a manner that upsets the buyer or seller. The second most frequently asked question is, “What state agency or authority can I call to complain about this broker or agent?”
Customers of ours in New Jersey, a nice young couple who had done their homework, saved their money for a down payment and were pre-qualified, were astounded when the broker they contacted demanded to see their savings account passbook.
